Preparing A Winter Emergency Kit for Your Vehicle
With winter quickly approaching we'd like to help our customers, friends, and family prepare their vehicles appropriately. Every year there are thousands of stranded motorists that aren't properly prepared for the emergency at hand, which could become dire if in a remote area. We have created a list below to help you better equip your vehicle if by chance you ever find yourself in such a situation (but hopefully not!) It never hurts to be prepared and also these are great tips to share with a loved one to insure their safety as well!
At least two blankets or a sleeping bag
Flashlight or battery-powered lantern, extra batteries, and jumper cables.
Emergency road flares
Extra clothing such as boots, hats, and mittens
A steel shovel and rope to use as a lifeline
Bottled water or juice and nonperishable high energy foods (granola bars, raisins, nuts, peanut butter, or cheese crackers) Choose small packages of food that you can eat hot or cold.
First-aid kit and necessary medications
Sand or non-clumping cat litter for tire traction, if your vehicle gets stuck in snow or ice
A cell phone charger
Store items in the passenger compartment in case the trunk is jammed or frozen shut.
Below are links that you may find resourceful when making your emergency kit and or if you'd just want to purchase one that is already put together for you! There is also a link with additional information when stranded.
